Our Engle Hot Knife comes WITH the blade! This indispensable tool cuts and seals the edges of synthetic fabrics to prevent fraying. Also use to cut and seal rope.
Most synthetic fabrics, including sailcloth and Sunbrella®, ravel when cut with scissors. You can use a soldering iron, a lighter or even a candle to melt the cut edges, but a hot knife makes all the difference. It seals the fabric as it cuts. Once you get one, you'll wonder how you were able to work without it. It's an investment, but definitely worth the price. Don't settle for a brand other than Engel. It's the one professionals use!
Be sure to protect the table/cutting surface (we use a scrap of vinyl laminate, such as "Formica").
