About Sailmaker's Supply

Sailmaker's Supply was founded with a simple goal: to provide quality sailmaking and marine canvas fabrics, hardware, instructions, products, and services at reasonable prices, backed by real experience and personal service.

How We Started

The business grew naturally out of hands-on sailmaking and marine canvas work. While building sails and canvas professionally, I already had the materials and tools on hand and recognized a gap in the market. DIY boaters had very few options for sourcing professional-grade supplies, and those options were often priced out of reach.

Sailmaker's Supply began by filling that need. First, with a printed catalog, then with an online store that makes high-quality materials accessible to individuals who want to do the work themselves.

A Boater First, Always

My introduction to sailmaking began with owning a sailboat and learning to sew. I made my own canvas, repaired my own sails, and before long was doing work for others on the dock. Eventually, I set off cruising toward the Caribbean with a sewing machine on board and gained professional experience along the way, including working in the canvas department for a sailmaker in St. Thomas. After returning to the United States, I officially opened my own sailmaking and marine canvas business.

With more than 40 years of hands-on experience, I understand what boaters face in real-world conditions. That perspective shapes how Sailmaker's Supply operates today, from the products we carry, to the advice we give.

Quality, Knowledge, and Service

Labor is the biggest investment in any sewn marine project, which is why we believe it only makes sense to use the best materials available. We focus on high-quality products, many made in the USA, and we refuse to cut corners. That same standard applies to our customer service.

We are always willing to share our expertise in sailmaking and marine canvas fabrication. Whether you have a question about materials, construction, or a project you are working on, we are happy to help. If you are looking for an item not listed in our catalog or online store, let us know and we will make every effort to locate it for you.

Who We Serve

Sailmaker's Supply primarily serves DIY boaters, but we also work closely with professionals. We work in conjunction with marine canvas fabricators Mainland Canvas and sailmakers West Wind Sails. Sails or marine canvas products not found in our catalog may often be obtained through these associations. Just call our order desk, and we will connect you with the appropriate company.

Customers choose Sailmaker's Supply for fast shipping, personal service, and the ability to talk directly with someone who understands boats, sewing, and marine environments. We take pride in being approachable, knowledgeable, and reliable.
