Jean,

I just purchased Ultrasuede fabric to redo my cushions from you. I ordered enough material to do the top and sides and will use a less expensive material for the back of the cushions.

I ordered 100% cotton from a local fabric store but am concerned that even though my boat is pretty dry inside, I may have problems with mildew. Can cotton be treated to prevent this or should I go with another fabric type?

Each tube has an aft "bra" that keeps the ends in place. A strap, behind the transom and fastened with velcro, completes the aft hold down scheme.

Re: Dear Tom,

You should try to stay away from cotton fabric on your boat because, yes, it will mildew. I have not heard of Nautolex "underlining", but that doesn't sound like what you would want either. We most often use a vinyl fabric such as Nautolex Voyager on the bottoms of the cushions we make. It is durable, relatively inexpensive and keeps the foam from soaking up any water (or condensation) that happens to get under the cushions.

Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for your order!
